Sound on! I have taken a new spy video of the first Flachbau (Slantnose) Porsche 911 GT2 RS test mule during some hot laps on the Nürburgring.
In May 2025, Porsche registered the model names ‘Flachbau’ and ‘Flachbau RS’ as trademarks. In english the name for Flachbau is Slantnose. These are extremely rare limited models that are highly sought after by collectors.
In the 1980s, Porsche 911 Turbo models were equipped with pop-up headlights on special request. Most recently, in 2019, the Porsche 935 was released as a very limited special model based on the 1980s Moby Dick, but it was only offered for use on the racetrack, i.e. without road approval.
The new Flachbau and Flachbau RS models will apparently be road legal. The test vehicle currently photographed, an old 991 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, is in any case road legal. The stickers as headlights are just fake. The rear spoiler of the current test vehicle is strongly reminiscent of the road version of the 1983 Porsche 935.
Whether Porsche will actually launch the 911 Flachbau based on the 991 is rather questionable. After all, the model is no longer in production and the technology is old. It is quite conceivable that certain parts are currently being tested on the older platform, which will then be incorporated into a current model. Since Porsche is involved in the development of this 911 slantnose model together with Manthey, it is certainly not a body kit that will be available for purchase for the 991 from Manthey in the future. That would not be worthwhile.
It remains to be seen when Porsche will first take the production ready Porsche 911 Flachbau prototype onto the road and what it will look like. In any case, testing for the new Porsche 911 Flachbau project has begun. There are certainly enough buyers and interested parties for such an extremely coveted collector’s model.
My Youtube Channel CarSpyMedia focuses on high quality car spy videos that only show the model mentioned in the title. I do not show any scenes twice and therefore want to stand out from other spy video channels.
